DAISHO PAIR IRON ANTIQUE JAPANESE TSUBA SWORD SAMURAI EDO katana —
A DAISHO PAIR of JAPANESE ANTIQUE TSUBA, approx 200 / 300 years old, that would have fitted on a Japanese sword to protect the hand from SWORD CUTS. Iron tsuba with a classic design of’boars eye’ cut outs (heart shaped) on the perimeter…………….. Boar charges directly at its target without ever wavering or glancing away. Its easy to see how this was adopted into samurai philosophy and fighting, hence the symbol being incorporated into weaponry. But over time the symbol has taken on a more benign association and is thought to ward off misfortune and attract good luck………………. Measures approx 75mm x 72mm x 4mm thick (the blade aperture is approx 25mm high by max 7mm wide) and is a heavy chunky TSUBA which is nice…….. The iron should NEVER be polished bright, the old colour is a very important feature, and part of the value of the TSUBA… Only a light waxing………. These tsuba would have been for a wakizashi and tanto guessing from the size………….. They come complete in a cloth bag………….. Please see my other items!!!!
