Tsuba Akasaka School Japanese antique iron circa 1775 —
Size: 7.9cm x 7.8cm x 5.9mm. Afterabout 2 years of study and comparing it to about 50 other examples interms of iron, patina, carving, execution of the design, weight, andanything else I could think to observe- my opinion is Akasakasomewhere close to the work of Tadashige. While similarto the signed example at the Tokyo National Museum, to me it feelsmore like perhaps his son or one of his students. Condition is very good. Thereis clean presentationof seppa dai mounting mark, so my impression is that it was mountedonce for a long time. Thistsuba comes with the tsuba box pictured.
