Antique Japanese Hizen School Dragon Tsuba with NBTHK Hozon Tosogu —
Iron Hizen School tsuba with NBTHK Hozon Tosogu. Decorated with a dragon among clouds and waves. This is unusually big tsuba. It measures 93 mm x 87 mm x 6 mm and weights 235 g. It is irregularly shaped (kawari-gata) and design is made by removing metal from the initial piece of iron (sukidashi-bori). Almost whole tsuba is decorated with gold and silver nunome zogan. Silver got dark and in some places it remains shiny, so it might look like there is no patina on iron. While actually those are just different colours of silver. New owner can clean the silver and make the whole tsuba more “sparkly”. Made in edo period. 93 mm x 87 mm x 6 mm. Please let us know If you are waiting for other auctions to end.
