This is a substantial iron tsuba featuring a ladder design, signed “Tetsujin” and attributed to the craftsman Aoki Kanke (also known as Aoki Joemon). The significant weight of 157.7g and large size indicate solid construction. The slightly oval shape (83mm x 81.6mm) is characteristic of many traditional tsuba.
