Antique & Historic Japanese Early Edo (17 – 18th Century) Period Wakizashi, this Traditional Hand Forged Sword Displays a Early Style of Craftsmanship, Mounted in Koshirae with a Solid Iron Tsuba showing Some Light Gold Embellishments that have faded with time, Antique Gold Menuki Clusters, and Decorative Type Kashira & Fuchi, this Nice Example Rests in a More Modern Lacquered Saya (Scabbard) – The Tsuka (Handle) Features Neatly Matching Motif Parts and a Very Tight Older Silk Wrap but a small area of loss to the ray veneer under the wrap as shown; Exquisite Early Hand Forged Water Quenched Blade Exhibits an Interesting Wavy Hamon. Frosty in Appearance and Visible Into the Tip with a Solid Grain Structure Offset; Tang is Mumei (unsigned) and only has one mounting hole present – Absolute Top Quality Candidate Remains in Clean Polish; with the Blade Measuring 14 1/2 Inches (Habaki is easy to remove), 18 1/2 from the Tip to the Top of the Tang, 21 with the Tsuka (handle) Mounted, and 21 1/2 Resting in the Saya – Excellent.
