Fishing illustration. ??????? Period: Edo Material: iron SIZE(about)? 74.3×76.8×4.4??? 122g Appearance. The tsuba in this work is a picture of an old man fishing, lost in thought. The old man’s back feels calm and relieved. Along with “Honami,” who makes real swords, “Zeami,” who plays Noh, and “Nouami,” who makes paintings, “Shoami” served the Ashikaga Shogunate as a metalsmith. It is a prestigious family. Inheriting the lineage and techniques of swordsmiths, it is one of the three major schools of metalworking, comparable to the Goto family and the Umetadake family, and was established in 1876 (Meiji 9) by the Sword Abolition Order. It flourished for about 500 years until its promulgation. In particular, there are many masterpieces of Koshoami (early items) made before the Azuchi-Momoyama period, with Koshoami having a hammered finish, and Shoami from the Edo period having a polished finish. There are no noticeable scratches. Included Items It will be delivered in a special paulownia box made in Japan (in a paulownia box). I always have the listed items in stock.
